From now until you head down the aisle…

All you need to know about getting legally married in Australia

1. Contact Me

Tell me all about your day, your date, where you are getting married. All the good stuff. If I am available on this date, we can plan a meeting (skype, zoom, facetime, in person) to see if I am the right fit for your day.

2. Secure Your Date / Intention to Marry

After our initial meeting to secure your date a signed contract and a booking retainer is required. After I receive this, your date is confirmed, and we will start planning your vows. This is where we begin the legal requirements of getting married. The Notice of Intention to Marry needs to be completed at least 31 days before your wedding. I will need to sight ID for this step to be completed. I will cover these requirements with you prior to lodgement. If these elements cannot be done face to face, do not stress, we can still make it happen.

3. Creating Your Perfect Ceremony

In the lead up to the ceremony we will work together to create something that is personal to you and your partner. What type of ceremony you would like for your wedding day? Fun, romantic, quirky, modern, nostalgic? If you cannot figure out exactly what that is, do not worry I will be there with you and we will come up with something incredible that means the world to you.

4. Rehearsal

We plan a rehearsal generally the day before – can you feel the excitement already? At the rehearsal we go over all the finer details. Will your entrance be dramatic? Subtle? Will you both have your own special entrance? A little paperwork and generally a lot of laughs and some tears…

5. Wedding day

On the day I arrive before the ceremony starts (approximately 30 minutes prior), set up and greet your guests as they arrive. When you are ready to start the ceremony, we will get straight into it and have you guests laughing, crying, smiling - or all three at the same time!

6. Registering Your Marriage

After your ceremony I submit all your signed paperwork to the NSW Births Deaths and Marriages, and you will receive a certificate in the mail making it all official. Sounds simple, right?
